Enter a robot

This is the one thing on this site we actually want you to do. You can buy a seat and watch — but the event does not exist without people willing to build something terrible and lose with it in public.

You do not need to know anything

That is not encouragement, it is the format. Skill is penalised. If you have never built anything that moves, you are the intended entrant and you are already ahead of anyone who owns a soldering iron.

A robot that qualifies can be: a slipper with a motor taped to it, a biscuit tin on wheels, a cardboard box with a fan inside, anything that moves on its own after someone says go.

What you will need to give us

You will be asked for:

  • Your name, and a team name if you have one
  • Your MyKid or MyKad number, or a passport number if you are not Malaysian — all ages are welcome. We read your date of birth from it and keep only the date
  • A category, Team or Solo, and a school if you are entering through one
  • An email address and a Malaysian phone number
  • An emergency contact
  • If you are under 13: an adult in charge — a parent, guardian or teacher, by name. They are your emergency contact too
  • The robot's name, roughly what it is and what it is made of
  • Any high-tech features, declared honestly — see the rules
  • A photo, if you have one
  • Whether we may photograph you on the day

RM20 per robot

One price, and it covers what you need to compete:

  • A Hebokit — the hardware, batteries and parts, in a box, collected a week before
  • A Hebocon Sarawak t-shirt
  • Makeramai merchandise
  • Food vouchers for the day
  • The one-hour build session at collection

Nobody pays for any of those separately. Spectators are a separate ticket, sold at the door and on the tickets page. Register your robot below.

Collect your Hebokit a week before the contest: Saturday 14 November 2026, 10.00 AM – 5.00 PM at Makeramai Makerspace, with a one-hour build session at 2.00 PM.

What every entry gets

One price covers the Hebokit, a Hebocon Sarawak t-shirt, Makeramai merchandise and food vouchers for the day.

The Hebokit laid out: a mini hot glue gun, glue sticks, batteries, battery holder, wheels, gear motors, switches, wire, a crimping tool, screws, a nut and bolt set, two A3 acrylic sheets and a printed Hebokit booklet.

What is in the box

  • A mini hot glue gun and glue sticks

  • Two wheels and four motors
  • Switches, a charging cable and an assortment of screws and bolts
  • Two A3 acrylic sheets to build with

Register your team

RM 20.00 per robot entry. One price, entry and kit together — there is no separate workshop ticket.

All ages welcome. A passport number is fine if you are not Malaysian.

We collect this for Sarawak event reporting, which requires your name, MyKid, gender, race and date of birth. The number is stored encrypted and deleted 90 days after the event. Only organisers can see it in full.

Only needed if you used a passport. A Malaysian identity number already contains it.

Adult in charge

Required for entrants under 13. This person is also your emergency contact.

Their full name, and their MyKad stays with them — we only need the name.

A Malaysian mobile number, e.g. 012-3456789.

Roughly is fine — a sentence or two.

Declared honestly — see the rules. Leave blank if there are none.

Waives the entry fee. One code may cover several entries; leave blank if you do not have one.
