Bring your kid. Build the worst robot you can.

A one-day contest where badly built robots beat well built ones. No experience needed — any age can enter, and anyone under 13 just needs an adult with them. You get the parts and the tools; you bring the ambition.

Makeramai Makerspace, Plaza Merdeka, Kuching, Sarawak

Bring the whole family

Entry is ticketed this year, from RM10. Matches last a minute, the robots fall over constantly, and the room cheers the worst one. Children compete alongside adults — it is loud, it is short, and nothing about it needs explaining.

Get on the list for 2026

One email when the date is confirmed and entries open. Nothing else.

Robots

Cardboard, slippers, biscuit tins, one wobbly motor and hope. Every entry is photographed and catalogued like a serious product, because that is funnier.

Rules

A 100 by 50 centimetre plywood ring. First robot out loses. Tip over and you lose. Anything clever costs you six points a match.

Play

Heboi Rumble puts the whole contest in your browser. Build badly, drive badly, get shoved out of the ring by a brick.

Workshops

Turn up with nothing and leave with a robot — no separate ticket, it comes with your team entry.

How the workshop works

Hebokit collection

Pick up your Hebokit a week before the contest, then build with it on the spot. One-hour build session at 2.00 PM — materials, tools and someone to ask.

What the podium takes home

Four printers. Build something terrible, and you could leave with the machine to build a better one next year.

Community

Nothing here yet — this is the first Hebocon Sarawak. Build something terrible and you will be in next year's grid.

Robots from other Hebocon chapters around the world — not this year's entries. Sarawak's first go here once they exist.

A cassette recorder with googly eyes, mounted on toy car wheels
A toy dinosaur strapped to a motorised toy car base with loose wires
A baby doll with a toy radio strapped to its chest and a propeller for a leg
A cardboard-and-tape turtle with two duckling heads and a scanner-tray body

Be in the grid

A chapter, not a franchise

Hebocon started in Japan in 2014 and has since run in more than twenty-five countries. There is no licence to buy and no fee to pay — anyone willing to follow the format can run one. Hebocon Sarawak is a community chapter under that model.

The first Sarawak edition is in November 2026 at Makeramai Makerspace in Plaza Merdeka, Kuching. Spectator tickets start at RM10. Entering costs RM20 and requires no skill whatsoever, which is the point.
